My music taste

 My music taste has definitely changed over time, especially as I have got older.  When I was younger I was more into Pop music, more mainstream music, some rap, hip hop. However as I have got older, my music taste has definitely changed. Now I listen to more different genres of music such as, drum and bass, house music. I still listen to the same genres I would listen to when I was younger however it is just more explicit and less mainstream for example artists like Sleepy Hallow, Gunna, ayrtn. I have noticed as I have got older I listen to more American music, this is most likely due to social media and finding out about new artists through social media platforms such as Instagram, Spotify, Soundcloud and more. 

Artists I really like are Gunna, Lil baby, Dave, Sheff G, Sleepy Hallow,

Bands I still like and listen to sometimes are Mumford and Sons, Artic Monkeys and The killers.

I definitely listen to certain music depending on the environment, people around me and mood. For example my friends and I have very similar tastes in music, therefore, we would listen to the same artists. If I am around my friends and we are just chilling out we would listen to artists like Dave, Drake, Sleep Hallow, Sheff G, El Londo etc. However if we are in an energised mood we would listen to artists like, Gunna, 21 savage, Central Cee. 

In the music industry I admire artists who have been making music for a longer time period such as, Drake, Lil Wayne, 50 cent. This is because they have had a massive impact on the music industry and changed the conventions of music. They are all well respected and made different types of songs and left a legacy behind, they will be remembered for their music and have helped out a lot of other upcoming artists for us to enjoy.

There have been lots of controversies in music for example , R.Kelly being a pedophile in 2017 he was accused by multiple women of running an abusive sex cult involving minors.

Another controversy is Chris Brown assaulting Rihanna, these are 2 massive artists making it a much bigger controversy then others. In 2009, Brown assaulted leaving her with facial injuries that required Rihanna to go to hospital. 

Kanye West dissing Taylor Swift at the VMAs. Again, 2 huge names in the music industry. Taylor Swift had won an award for the best female video in 2009, however Kanye West stormed onto the stage and stated that Beyonce had been robbed, causing massive conflict between the two.

The biggest artists at the moment are Drake, Kanye West, Rihanna, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran. Drake and Kanye West have recently released new albums which are huge and been very popular. 

Artists sell their music via social media platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Live performances e.g concerts, festivals. Also digitally, through CDs, some Vinyl's which are less popular now. They do lots of features with other artists can synergies and therefore their music will get more views. Artists do a lot of advertisement and promotion of their new music releasing, to give their fans time and excite them for the new song/album.

They also sell their music by signing with record labels who promote their signed artists music, giving It more publication, increasing views and sells of the artists music. 

The majority of artists revenue come from come from tours, licensing their music for television, films, video games (copyright), partnerships. However artists make the most money from merchandise sells, this could be at concerts or online if they have a clothing website where you can buy their merchandise
