 Purpose of social media page for artist?

In my opinion, the purpose of a social media page for artists is to promote their music, they are about to release. This is so more recognition and hype is created for the release, meaning people will be ready to listen to their music as soon as it releases. Also so they can interact with their fans much easier. They can also connect with other artist as well, this makes synergy much easier to achieve. Makes it more likely that merchandise, albums, songs will all sell.

Gunna uses his social media account to promote his new music he is about or has just released, he also posts small snippets of the songs that he features in. This is all to create awareness and give it recognition. He posts pictures of his lifestyle, this is so his fans can see what he is up to and follow his life. Gunna promotes his sponsorships through posting about them, for example his partnership with Footlocker. He normally posts pictures with him in it, and the clothes that he wears are mainly bright coloured, this is to make the layout and his page pop out more and catch his followers eye. The camera is normally a mid shot , this is so we can see his clothes and we get a sense of his lifestyle and personality from the clothes he does wear. He likes to mix and contrast the brightness of his posts, this gives it more of a symmetrical look, where some posts are bright and some are dark.

Bruno Mars social media account consists of photos that and videos that tells his audience when his new music is going to be released so they can consume his media products. A lot of his posts have the same background, where he uses a beige tan colour, this appeals to his audience and makes his page look professional. He has many posts with his friends that are involved in his music, such as features and producers and posts that show his lifestyle and what he gets up too in his spare time. The colours are mainly bright, which connotes happiness and hope. This reflects his personality and the emotions he tries to get across to his audience. He wants to make people happy and does this through his media posts as all his posts have a happy vibe to them.

Bru C is an artist who specialises in dance. His posts include very explicit content with women in minimal clothing and acting seductive. This suits the conventions of the dance genre as in the music videos we see the same. His posts also include him using drugs, this again matches the conventions of dance genre music videos. He posts a lot about his lifestyle and his live shows, this creates awareness for his live shows and gives his followers a preview of what his shows are like so it convinces them to attend next time.  His photos include him partying a lot, which shows his lifestyle to his audience.
