Thoughts on choice of song

The reason why my group and I chose do make a dance genre music video to Bru-C song ' Mesmirized' is because we found out that there were a lot of opportunities to add editing techniques, camera work and miseducating-en-scene such as props. We also thought that the genre (dance) related to us and our age demographic most, where people with similar interests and similar age would be able to relate to the music video. Through our planning and location scout we recognised that we could use good locations to film in which would make our music video look of high quality. Also we knew it would be a genre and style of music video that we would enjoy to make.

Whilst watching the music video, we noticed that we could try and use the 360 camera that is used In the original music video. This was important to us and this would be the 'difference' in Steve Neal's theory of 'repetition and difference', as we knew that this would make our product unique compared to others.

Dance genre music videos all include similar aspects/conventions. For example they tend to include; Alcohol, party, bright lights, expensive cars, seductive women. Therefore we have tried to follow the conventions and include these aspects into our music video.

We use representation through demographic groups such as, age, specifically teenagers as it is only teenagers in the music video. We represent social issues that link with partying, these would be alcohol addiction and drug use. Men and women are represented differently through their clothing items, in some scenes they are wearing less clothing to make them look seductive, although still in an appropriate manor.

As a group of teenage boys, I feel our choice of song suits us the best, and people within our demographic will be able to relate and enjoy the music video.
